Francoise Nars narscosmetics.com/world-of-nars/ handpicked his assistants at a preliminary test held at Milk Studios. All the artists were to create a smokey eye and red lip. That was all exact the instruction we received and no detail on the color he wanted or shape. In 30 minutes our brushes had to be down , no exceptions! Each artist had a different idea on what that meant so it was interesting to see. Photos were taken with you and your model after the faces of the models were inspected in the daylight by Francoise & Lina (his right hand). Well, I guess I aced it because I was asked to be a part of the show on *Valentine’s Day*.
This was the last show of NY Fashion Week which took place at the Lexington Avenue Armory. The look was a Joan Jet inspired with a smokey eye and light lip pictured below. There were 54 models that all looked alike with black wigs by Guido artandcommerce.com . The eyes were created with black shadow (Pandora Duo Eyeshadow) & softened with your finger or a brush after the application. Nars Sheer Glow foundation & loose powder afterwards to leave a very mat face. Emphasis was placed on powdering the lids before the Pandora black shadow was applied. Black Moon eyeliner pencil thinly placed along the lash line, following the shape of the eye. Iceberg white liner inside the eye to create an illusion of a bigger eye. A bit of foundation on the lip allowing the natural pink color of lip to show through. Nico or Zen as contour & blush. To seal the look was a rosebud salve over the eye shadow to give that Rock n Roll feel! It was a great vibe and I was so happy to be a part of the production. A great way to close NY Fashion Week!

Mr. Nars had a very royal quality about him. Gentile but powerful as expressed in his painting. I was so excited he allowed me to take this photo with him. Truly made my Fashion Week!

I was working on the M.A.C. team for this show and the key was Violette from http://www.managementartists.com/ The location was the Grand Hotel 2 rue scribe. Vanilla pigment powder around the eyes, M.A.C. cream contour with a foundation brush, and brows.

I was off to the Grand Palais after another show. There was enough time in between so I was so happy to confirm with Lucia Peroni from Streeters http://streeters.com It so happens that many shows overlap and you miss out on great opportunities but this time it worked. The show was sponsored by Clé de Peau Beauté so we received some luxurious products for our kits. Lucia was super Kool and relaxed. She used #208 eye color quad, #12 luminizing face enhancer, enriched lip luminizer in a pink shade, and the concealer and refining fluid foundation. I asked Lucia ” If there was one thing I must have for my kit from Clé de Peau Beauté what would it be?” The answer was the concealers! I thanked her for that wonderful tip. The look was easy, a great location, delicious catering, a great key makeup artist, & beautiful models…who could ask for more!

Rachel Zoe showed her collection in the tents at Lincoln Center on September 12th. The Amazing Tillbury created the look below & Maybelline supplied the products for the show.

I attended the Alex Box Make Up Event for MAC last night. It was pretty amazing and futuristic! She paints an image of a face on the screen with her hands. It looks like she is painting makeup onto the screen. The style of make up to come in visual reality. She did say, she swears by this brush http://www.maccosmetics.com/product/145/265/224-Tapered-Blending-Brush/index.tmpl

Fei Fei Sun was one of the models I worked on for the Fall 2011 Derek Lam show. Keyed by the amazing Tom Pecheux (pictured below)http://www.thecollectiveshift.com/show/portfolio/Pecheux. Estee Lauder was very generous and supplied us with so many great products. We used Black Crystals eyeshadow and an unnamed silver color over it. They must be developing the silver color along with the lipstick that was given to use in small jars. No mascara and Illuminating Powder Gelee, Modern Mercury as a highlight. I think this product is also not in the final phase of production.
